What is “Gutenberg” you may ask …
On December 6, WordPress 5.0 was released. This new wordpress release came with a completely new look and editor called Gutenberg. It’s a new block-based editing environment in WordPress and it is already causing a massive impact.
I really did try to like it. Who am I to stand in the way of progress. But, and it is a very big but, it is going to take time to learn how to use Gutenberg. Time I just dont have. Then I would have to teach each and every client who uses wordpress websites I have designed …
There is a way to get out of this nightmare. Install a plugin to go back to the previous wordpress editor. Till you have the time to figure out Gutenberg.
Install “Classic Editor” plugin. It promises the following:
Enables the WordPress Classic Editor and the old-style Edit Post screen with TinyMCE, Meta Boxes, etc. Supports the older plugins that extend this screen.
I am of the “if it’s not broken don’t fix it” school. I can only hope that this experiment by wordpress developers doesn’t do harm to the brand.
